May 2025 Visa Bulletin Update

The U.S. Department of State has released the May 2025 Visa Bulletin, providing updates on immigrant visa availability for the upcoming month. This article outlines the priority dates that determine when applicants can file for adjustment of status or receive immigrant visas across various employment-based (EB) and family-based (FB) categories.

Employment-Based Categories

In May, USCIS will use the Final Action Dates chart for employment-based adjustment of status applications

Dates for Filing Chart:

The Dates for Filing chart remains unchanged from the previous month, indicating no advancement in priority dates for any employment-based category.

Final Action Dates Chart:

The Final Action Dates chart for family-based categories remains unchanged from the April 2025 bulletin.

EB-1 Category:

  • India: Remains at February 15, 2022

  • China: Remains at November 8, 2022.​

  • All Other Countries: Remain Current.

EB-2 Category:

  • India: Remains at January 1, 2013.

  • China: Remains at October 1, 2020.

  • All Other Countries: Remains at June 22, 2023.

EB-3 Category:

  • India: Advances by 15 days to April 15, 2013.​

  • China: Remains at November 1, 2020.​

  • All Other Countries: Remains at January 1, 2023.

EB-4 Category: Unavailable due to the exhaustion of visa numbers for this fiscal year.

EB-5 Category:

  • China: Remains at January 22, 2014.

  • India: Remains at November 1, 2019.

Family-Based Categories

Final Action Dates Chart:

F1 – Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens

  • All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed: Remains at March 15, 2016.

  • China (mainland-born): Remains at March 15, 2016.

  • India: Remains at March 15, 2016.

  • Mexico: Advanced from January 1, 2005, to April 22, 2005.

  • Philippines: Remains at July 15, 2012.

F2A – Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents: No changes.

F2B – Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21+) of Permanent Residents.

  • All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed: Remains at July 22, 2016.

  • China (mainland-born): Remains at July 22, 2016.

  • India: Remains at July 22, 2016.

  • Mexico: Remains at January 1, 2006.

  • Philippines: Advanced from January 22, 2012, to February 08, 2012.

F3 – Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens

  • All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed: Remains at April 1, 2011.

  • China (mainland-born): Remains at April 1, 2011.

  • India: Remains at April 1, 2011.

  • Mexico: Remains at January 15, 2001.

  • Philippines: Advanced from March 22, 2003, to September 22, 2003.

F4 – Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens

  • All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed: Advanced from August 1, 2007, to January 1, 2008.

  • China (mainland-born): Advanced from August 1, 2007, to January 1, 2008.

  • India: Remains at June 15, 2006.

  • Mexico: Remains at March 15, 2001.

  • Philippines: Remains at January 1, 2005.

Dates for Filing Chart

F1 – Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: No changes.

F2A – Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents

  • All Chargeability Areas: Advanced from October 15, 2024, to February 1, 2025.

  • China, India, Mexico, Philippines: all advanced from October 15, 2024, to February 1, 2025.

F2B – Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21+) of Permanent Residents: No changes.

F3 – Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: No changes.

F4 – Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens: No changes.

  • All Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed: Advanced from April 1, 2008, to June 1, 2008.

  • China (mainland-born): Advanced from April 1, 2008, to June 1, 2008.

  • India: Remains at October 1, 2006.

  • Mexico: Remains at April 30, 2001.

  • Philippines: Remains at January 8, 2008.
