Vera advises clients on intellectual property matters, with a focus on patent prosecution, IP strategy, and complex civil litigation. Her practice also includes supporting corporate transactions and compliance initiatives.

Prior to joining the firm, she worked as in-house counsel in a Fortune 500 corporation, where she conducted prior art analysis, drafted patent applications and office action responses, and secured the reopening of a rejected application through a successful pre-appeal brief. She also assisted with litigation matters involving discovery, post-hearing briefing, and targeted legal research, and supported corporate teams in reviewing sourcing and procurement agreements.

Vera previously worked with the Cook County Circuit Court as a Judicial Extern alongside Judge Bartkowicz, drafting judicial memoranda and opinions in negligence, medical malpractice, and personal injury cases, and analyzing evidentiary and statutory issues. She also externed in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she drafted internal memoranda, prepared dispositive motions, and received the Asian American & Pacific Islander Law Clerk Award.

Vera received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was a Dean’s List student, a CALI Award recipient (highest grade in Criminal Law), and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property. She also holds postgraduate engineering credentials from the University of Cambridge, as well as a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the University of Hong Kong. She previously worked in Hong Kong as a structural engineer and published research at an international engineering conference.

Vera is licensed to practice in Illinois. She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
